IAME GR-3 – 60cc CIK-FIA Mini Engine

The new IAME GR-3 is a 60cc CIK-FIA homologated engine developed specifically for the MINI class. This entirely new project delivers improved thermal efficiency, structural stability and extremely consistent performance thanks to very tight production tolerances.

🔵 Design and Engineering Philosophy
The engine is built around the principle “the right amount of material in the right place”. Cylinder, head and crankcase feature optimized fins and air deflectors to improve heat dissipation. All cast parts are made from high-strength alloys to ensure rigidity and stable performance over time.

🔵 Cylinder and Head
Aluminium cylinder with CNC-machined cast-iron liner. The optimized fin design increases thermal efficiency, while the air deflectors guide airflow through the cooling surfaces. The head is designed to maintain ideal combustion temperature and accept racing spark plugs.

🔵 Crankshaft and Connecting Rod
Built-up crankshaft with 18 mm crankpin and 20 mm main journals, balanced using additive-manufactured inserts. The forged steel connecting rod features a thin “knife” profile and runs on precision roller bearings.

🔵 Main Bearings, Piston and Crankcase
Special roller bearings maintain perfect crankshaft alignment at high RPM. The piston uses a high-silicon alloy with chromium-plated L-ring. The crankcase is produced via sand casting for maximum strength and optimal cooling.

🔵 Transmission, Ignition and Starter
CIK-FIA dry centrifugal clutch with chain line positioned close to the engine centreline to reduce flex and friction. Digital ignition with 14,000 rpm limiter. Electric starter with low-inertia bimetal gear.

🔵 Exhaust
One-piece CIK-FIA homologated exhaust, designed for performance consistency and reliability.
